Biography


Craig Wood is a Tasmanian-born Performer, Composer and Musical Director. He began performing in 1999 with the IHOS Music Theatre Laboratory, involving himself in premieres of more than fifteen new stage works, 


In 2008 he had heavy involvement with the premieres of three new companies, The Tasmanian Theatre Unit Trust (Les Miserables), Tasmanian Theatre Company (Bombshells) and ACT (The Laramie Project). He has also worked for a variety of other companies around the state including Terrapin Puppet Theatre, is. theatre, The Round Earth Theatre Company, The Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music (including the Australasian Premiere of the Philip Glass and Allen Ginsberg opera Hydrogen Jukebox), IHOS Opera, The Tasmanian Opera Chorus, Daylight Robbery Theatricals, as well as a wealth of independent productions.


As a composer he has written various song cycles, songs and  incidental music for various theatrical productions, adaptations of Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread and Lives Of The Great Poisoners for the Tasmanian Conservatorium and composed Ice Cold Words for the Antarctic Writers Festival 2006.  He has written original scores for two original dance works, Odyssey’s End and Perfectly Secret and the score for At All, a short film by Kai Raisbeck. Also Remnants with Terrapin Puppet Theatre. He recently premiered three songs, Westward Sky, Lullaby for Cassie and  C.S.P. live on ABC Radio. His current projects include Miss Saigon with Tasmanian Theatre Unit Trust, Once A Jolly Jumbuck with Big Monkey Inc. Keating! The Musical with the Old Nick Company and The Perfect Circle with writer Nicholas King.
